Flavio Bonfatti received the doctoral degree in Electronic Engineering from the University of Bologna in 1970. Between 1971-1983 he was a researcher at the Man-Computer Interaction Research Centre of the Italian National Research Council. Between 1983-1990 he was Director of the same Research Centre. Since 1983 he is associate professor in Software Engineering and lecturer of Industrial Applications of Computers at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia. His research interests include knowledge representation, object-oriented design techniques, and methods and tools for Virtual Enterprise constitution and operations. He has been, and presently is, scientific responsible in a number of national and international projects, especially within the Esprit and IST programme, and also reviewer of RTD European projects. He was workpackage leader in the SEEMseed project and Chair of the SEEM@Work community, and he is presently Project Manager of the SEAMLESS project of the FP6-IST programme.
