Welcome to the official website of the STASIS project, which was funded by the European Union's Sixth Framework Programme.
STASIS successfully concluded on 30th September 2009, having ran for 37 months. The project achieved its primary goal of simplifying the mapping of different business information schemas, by developing a semantic mapping application - the STASIS Workbench.
All approved public deliverables can be found in the deliverables section. The STASIS Workbench, and supporting video tutorial and user guide to get you started, are available for download in the STASIS software section.
This web site will remain active as a point of reference for the forseeable future.
What is STASIS?
SMEs often find it difficult to trade electronically due to differences in languages and terminologies. Although currently complex, semantic techniques could potentially be used to address this problem. Consider the following statement:
If I have information in my format, and it is integrated into my systems, I want to put minimal effort into mapping this into any format (standardised or not) to do electronic business with another party.
This is where STASIS fits in. The project aims to allow SMEs to participate in the e-Economy by offering a coherent set of semantic applications. These will allow easy access to analyse, view, compare and distil semantics in an efficient environment to more effectively relate the business concepts of one organisation with that of another.
